Although the Presidential tweets can be chaotic and disruptive, the tweeting is actually a great benefit to our society. No America leader in modern times has been so communicative with the public. He was elected because of that constant contact. Hillary Clinton would flee and hide from the news people and that obviously did not help her campaign. Trump appeared as though he was an investigative reporter telling a story that was missing from the general media. That obviously garnered him support. Once elected though, he sadly dropped that role and dramatically shifted to a position of deception and non disclosure. These were the things he previously criticized to his advantage.
In a way, The Trump tweets are like Roosevelt’s fire side chats or Churchill’s speeches, only much more frequent and far less inspirational. However, in the same way, they are a Presidential attempt to bring forth information and direction to the public. He deserves some credit for tweeting out and for his effort to keep his campaign pledges and his loyalty to his supporters.
In essence, President Trump is a very confusing and duplicitous person. Would you really prefer that he keep quiet? Can you understand how dangerous that could be? Without his tweets, we would have very little knowledge of his character and motivation. It is far better that he misdirects and contradicts himself openly rather than in secret as many politicians do. Some of his decisions serve his own personal interests and some reflect genuine concern for the country. His divergence within word, action and result are at least observed by many. This information is invaluable and we are far better with it than without it. It is a most serious issue and hopefully in time open communication can be used to ultimately reconcile the President with the nation as a whole. The turmoil and discomfort in the overall discussion are really necessary to Make America Great Again.
By the way, as we now know the President, it is apparent that his tax returns do not reflect his representations of his wealth, nor do we know what he pays in taxes. If the information were in any way favorable, he would not only release them, he would be regularly bragging about it on twitter.
In the big picture, keep in mind that there are a lot of tweets from a lot of people that are neither accurate or honest. There is no such thing as fake news. It is either true or false. The relevancy is up to each of us.
